Wellington's climate demands expert care for weatherboard, Linea Board, and cement fibreboard homes. Our team combines thorough preparation with premium materials to deliver lasting protection and enhanced curb appeal for these traditional New Zealand claddings.
Painters Inc. are happy to quote on timber weatherboard, Linea board/ cement fibreboard, and other cement fibre products such as Axon panel and Shadowclad houses which have aluminium windows. We no longer paint traditional weatherboard houses. Talk to us about how we can improve your faded aluminium joinery.
Wellington houses are subject to quite severe weather, especially wind. Over time, if you don’t look after the paint system it will start to fail. Your house should be repainted approximately every ten years.
Dark colours on dressed timber weatherboard houses is usually problematic. All timber has residual moisture and the introduction of dark colours will cause stress to the timber and the framing behind the timber and may cause the paint system to bubble. The advantage of Linea board or cement fibreboard products is that they have no residual moisture in them and they can cope with a dark colour. Light colours cope better with the infrared and UV radiation to reflect heat and preserve the paint system for much longer period and puts less pressure on the substrate.
Timber weatherboards or cement fibreboard products require recoating in a timely manner, generally every eight to ten years. Painters Inc. ensures the house is washed down prior to painting to remove any mould and mildew, timber is prepared by scraping and sanding. All sanding dust is wiped down prior to topcoating with premium paints from either Resene or Dulux. Linea board is washed down, lightly sanded, wiped down and top coated with premium paints from either Resene or Dulux.

Every eight to ten years. If it is a light colour you will get more longevity from your paint system. Darker colours may need to be painted earlier. We recommend you paint timber with a light colour.
