This property is a mixture of cedar weatherboards and monolithic cladding. The cedar had not been stained for some time and looked very tired. The monolithic cladding was in fair condition.
We fully primed the cedar and then painted it using Resene Lumbersider. We expect this system to last between eight to ten years. Weathered cedar can sustain a dark colour in paint due to the roughness of the timber. It is important to prime it first to make sure there is an even porosity in the timber. The monolithic cladding was painted with two coats of Resene X-200 which is a weathertight membrane. The timber joinery was painted using Resene Uracryl which is an engineered paint and will last for a long time, this is necessary due to the extensive scaffolding required on the property.
